Tyler Gault
Program Director for The Outdoor Classroom

Tyler is originally from Beaufort, South Carolina. He moved
to Camp Cosby in Alabama in 2003. He earned his Bachelor’s
Degree from College of Charleston and his Master's Degree in
Environmental Leadership from the Naropa Institute in
Boulder, Colorado. Tyler has been working in the field of
Environmental Education since 1997. He has written and
developed environmental education curriculum for the states
of South Carolina and Florida, managed the natural resources
of a barrier island in Georgia, conducted Loggerhead Sea
Turtle research in both South Carolina and Georgia, and
conducted Shorebird surveys for the state of Georgia.
Gwen Tenney

Gwen Tenney, our new Program Coordinator for the Outdoor
Classroom, is the newest member of the Camp Cosby staff. She
was born in Toledo, Ohio. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in
Environmental Studies at Lake Forest College in Illinois and
a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Toledo.
Gwen has taught third-graders about photosynthesis, junior
high school students about rock climbing, high school
students about Global Positioning System technology, land
managers about carbon recycling, and has presented her own
original research at professional conferences as far abroad
as Beijing, China. This is a dream job for Gwen because it
combines her passion for environmental issues with the fun
challenges of teaching youth. In her free time she loves to
rock climb, hike, play traditional Celtic music on her
flute, and explore the world!
| Sara Petruzzi
was born in Birmingham, Alabama and
spent the majority of her childhood growing up in
Guntersville, Alabama. Sara attended the College of
Charleston and majored in Special Education. She began
working at Camp Cosby in the summer of 2007. She truly
enjoys the experience of working with children and finds
each and every moment genuinely a unique experience. In her
free time she enjoys backpacking, hiking, going to the
beach, wakeboarding, reading, sushi, kayaking, listening to
music, and shopping at thrift stores. |

Emory Wheatley is from Odenville, Alabama and has
worked at Camp Cosby for a year teaching outdoor education.
He has a degree in Geography from Jacksonville State
University and has applied his degree working as a GIS
Specialist and a Land Inspector. He enjoys sharing his
passion for the outdoors with others. |

Stephanie Jackson is from Birmingham Alabama, and she
went to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. She has
been working at camp for the past two summers and this is
her first year as a naturalist. She loves to ice skate,
spoil her dog, and read. |

Jason Crowder is from Atlanta, Georgia and has worked
at Camp Cosby for 5 years. Jason has been teaching in the
Outdoor Education department for the past 4 years, and
achieved our Naturalist of the Year Award for 2006. Jason
enjoys working with the kids, and keeps motivated simply
knowing the difference he’s made in so many student’s lives.
In his free time Jason enjoys playing Guitar Hero, dancing,
eating doughnuts, and telling jokes. |

Sam Simons has worked for Camp Cosby for over 4 years
during both the Outdoor Education and Summer Camp seasons.
Originally, Sam is from Ann Arbor Michigan; she graduated
from Central Michigan with a degree in Art and Outdoor
Education. In her free time she enjoys playing the guitar,
squeegee hunting in the rain, and dressing up in odd 80’s
costumes. |

Felix Garcia is from the Dominican Republic and has
been with the YMCA since 1996. He has worked as an outdoor
educator since 1992. Felix has been a naturalist for Camp
Cosby for the past 3 years and absolutely loves teaching and
working with the children. Felix has many hobbies including:
hiking and backpacking, water activities, board games,
chess, and reading. Felix also wishes he could have an owl
for a pet. |

Eric Smith has worked at Camp Cosby for 2 years. He
is originally from Birmingham, Alabama but has lived all
over the country. He is in his third year of college and is
majoring in Secondary Education and specializing in history.
Eric’s passion for teaching comes from seeing kids get
excited about learning. When Eric is not shaping the minds
of young children, he enjoys backpacking, kayaking, and all
board sports. |
