Wheaton Griffin
Executive Director
wgriffin@campcosby.org
Wheaton has been the executive director at Camp Cosby since
the summer of 1999. Wheaton has a Ph.D. in psychology, which
he claims helps him understand the spontaneous daily bouts
of zaniness at Camp Cosby. Before joining Cosby, he was the
director of Camp Dudley YMCA in the Adirondack Mountains,
near where he was born and raised. Before that, he spent ten
years consulting with schools around the nation on
developmentally appropriate education. He most appreciates
Camp Cosby’s unsurpassed friendliness and loves being
immersed in what Cosby boys and girls have long called ”the
Cosby spirit.”
Wheaton shares a house near camp with his wife, Eileen,
son Amos, daughter-in-law Stephanie, three cats, one dog, an
organic garden, fruit trees, and two ponds with bass, brim,
and catfish waiting to be caught by his grandson. He also
has a daughter, T Griffin, who lives with her two children,
Levi and Sophia, and her husband Marnin in Arcata,
California.

Camp Cosby as the Director of Summer camping, and he
recently added Adventure Education and Group Camping to his
title as well.
Matt was married in April of 2007 to his wonderful wife
LeAnne who teaches kindergarten in the Mountain Brook school
system near Birmingham. They live in Vestavia with their dog
Gizmo during the off-season and at Camp during the summer.

Wanda McClain
Summer Camp Registrar/Administrative Assistant
wmcclain@campcosby.org
Wanda was born in Anniston, Alabama but was raised in
Southern California. Later in life she returned to Alabama
to live the “ways of the South.” For the past 19 years she

This number varies greatly as her two children bring and
take animals home. Wanda has a daughter, Sabrina, who has
recently graduated from Mississippi State University and a

the Eagles baseball team.
She has been with Camp Cosby for 11 years and has hopes of
