Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions
  1. Where do I find a packing list? Click Here for the information packet or on our website; Please remember to mark EVERYTHING with your child's name. We recommend labels from Stuck on You available at www.stuckonyou.biz/lizh. You will receive an order form for these labels in your conformation packet.
     
  2. Where do I find directions to Camp Cosby? Click Here
     
  3. Do I need boots if my child is not doing a Specialty Camp? Yes, They will need boots if they want to ride a horse or ride the mini bikes as an activity
     
  4. What time is Check-In? Check-In is Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (CST) or for Buckaroo Session E Check-In is Wednesday 1:30 p.m.
     
  5. What time is Check-Out? Check-Out is Friday at 6:30 p.m. or for Buckaroo Session A Check-Out is Wednesday 1:30 p.m.

  7. How much is the deposit? $150
     
  8. Is the deposit refundable? The deposit is non-refundable
     
  9. Does the deposit go toward the cost of camp? Yes
     
  10. When is the final payment due? May 1st
     
  11. What is the $54 Store Fee? Your camper will visit the store twice a day. They will receive a snack and a drink each visit. On Thursday evening your camper will get to choose a souvenir, on Friday they will receive a Camp Cosby T-Shirt and then in their Check-Out package you will have a picture of their Cabin Group.
     
  12. Does my child need a physical, if he/she is in good health? Yes, all campers are required to show proof of a physical that has been done within the last 24 months. If your child has had a physical through school, sports or some type of activity, you may attach a copy of that physical to our form.
     
  13. When is my Health form due to the camp? Two weeks before your camper's session date
     
  14. Can I bring my Health form with me at check-in? No, we need the form two weeks prior to Check-In so we may review the form and contact you with any necessary questions or concerns.
     
  15. Do you have a Scholarship Program? Yes, you may download this from our website or call the office for an application. Click here for Page 1 and Page 2 of the application.
     
  16. Why does my child need sheets and a sleeping bag? Our mattresses are plastic coated and a fitted sheet is more comfortable for the camper. The sleeping bag is for the “campout under the stars”. Your camper will sleep outside one night of their session. The counselors lay down tarps and the children put their sleeping bags on the tarp. Sleeping bags are much easier for the children to carry rather than a blanket.
     
  17. Can someone other than myself bring my child to camp for check-in? Yes, anyone may bring your camper to Check-In. If you are sending your camper with someone else, please call the office and make sure all your paper work is in order.
     
  18. Can someone other than myself pick my child up from camp at check-out? Yes, make sure that person is listed on your “Camper Release Form”. Click Here They will need a driver’s license or photo ID to be approved to check your child out.
     
  19. Do the counselors sleep in the cabins with the campers? Yes
     
  20. What is the ratio of counselors to campers? ACA standards set our ratio for 6-8 years old 1:6, 9-12 years old 1:8, 13-16 years old 1:10.
     
  21. What is devotion? Devotion time allows our campers to reflect on their day. During this time, counselors led discussions and read moral-based stories based on the age group. These stories relay concepts such as friendship, honesty, caring, respect, trust, responsibility, etc.

  24. My child is a vegetarian, will there be options for him/her? Yes, there is a full salad bar and non-meat options at every meal.
     
  25. Are the cabins air-conditioned? Yes
     
  26. Are the bathrooms inside the cabins? Yes, for ages 6-12. Ages 13-15, Adventure Village had a separate bathhouse.
     
  27. Is your camp co-ed? Yes
     
  28. What ages do you take? 6-16
     
  29. Do all ages come at the same time? Yes
     
  30. Are your counselors background checked? Yes
     
  31. Can my child bring a cell phone? NO; if they bring them, they will be taken away and held in the camp office for the duration of their stay at camp.
     
  32. How can I communicate with my child during their stay at camp? Through emails, regular mail or feel free to call our office if you have any questions or concerns. Our staff will be glad to help. Campers, however, do not have access to e-mail, fax, or phones during their stay.
     
  33. Do you have a nurse on the grounds? Yes, there are two certified nurses on the grounds 24 hours a day while we have campers.
     
  34. Can I be in the same cabin as my friend? Campers can be in a cabin with a friend as long as they are the same gender and in the same age group. Please call the office to discuss age exceptions.
     
  35. I have a group of campers (more than two) that want to be together, is this possible? Yes, we will work with you best as possible. Call the office, and we will put this together for you.
     
  36. Do I get to pick my own bunk? Yes. When we open the gates on Sunday and campers go to their cabins, they get to choose their bunk.
